Michael Jordan is a former basketball player that played in the National Basketball Association. He has been included in the top 50 greatest players of all time but many people acknowledge him as the greatest to ever play the game. As a basketball player, he has proven himself to be very successful, winning six championships. Every time he won, he was recognized as the MVP of the team. His team members all recognized him as the leader of the Chicago Bulls, stating that he is the main reason that they won the six championships.
The quote above stated by Michael Jordan is one of my favourite quotes of all time. The reason I chose this quote is because it is a quote that I try to follow. This quote motivates me as it encourages me to take on more risks and challenges. I try to live by this quote because I believe that if you follow this rule, you will eventually become a great leader that will help yourself and many others succeed. All good leaders have failed in the past but they learned from these failures and improved on their mistakes.
This quote connects to leadership development because failures are learning experiences and a person's learning experiences help develop a person into a leader. For example, at first, I thought I was a good leader but as time progressed, I learned that this was not the case. I made many errors and mistakes when trying to be a good leader but I learned from these mistakes and used them as good learning experiences. Each time I failed, I looked at what I did wrong and corrected it. I would say I am a much better leader now than I was at the beginning of the school year. If you look at your mistakes and failures as positive experiences instead of setbacks then you can strive to be the leader you wish to be.
